Blog & Site Design

I've been gone from this site for a very long time. I've been thinking about coming back and adding templates for use on blogs and/or sites but I'm not sure how much interest there would be in something like that.

I was thinking it could be something where you could have the option of extending and/or customizing the template.

I've also decided that the actual look of this site needs to change. I'm sick of seeing and hearing about the wordpress ripoff design of this site. I'd probably feel better about it if it were done better but it just looks so bad. It is amazing how difficult it is to successful duplicate a site's design.

I'm also considering adding artwork. ^_^

Griefers Are Mini Terrorists

I play Rockstars Live on my iPod Touch and there are lots of griefers that I run into from time to time. They're easy to spot. These are the people that will add you to the challenge list (or CL is a list where everyone can see and battle you) for no reason and/or make demands on your comment wall like asking you to CL them or saying something offensive. If you ignore them and don't respond they quickly move on and I mean quickly.

I say all that to say that I think griefers are like mini terrorists. The attacks you take from being on the CL is tantamount to blowing up planes and buildings. That made me wonder what the point/goal of terrorism is so I googled and found this.

I agree with what that guy thinks. I bet if you ignored terrorist acts they would get less frequent until they finally stop. I don't really think all those crazy airport rules help. I went to the airport two weeks ago and I had slightly less than half of a bottle of water in my purse that I'd forgotten about. The guy at the security check made this huge deal out of it, liked I'd smuggled in grenades or something. Then when I asked if I could just drink it right now he told me that I needed to exit, drink it and then come back in. How does that rule make me or anyone else safer?

Boo!!

I haven’t been here in so long it seems. I’ve been thinking about what to do with this site. I thought about maybe just blogging but then it becomes a matter of what to blog about. I suppose it could be random bits of things I like. I also considered some kind of sketch book/picture blog/normal blogging site.

I’ve been thinking about how to redesign this site in such a way that would make it completely unique and impossible to reuse. It would have to be something so specific that it makes it unusable for another site or so ridiculously bland that it looks bad when duplicated.

Anyway, last Saturday was my birthday! I’m 25 now. I’m officially an old lady. Joy. But I had a fun time. I did the traditional day at the movies thing and ended it with dinner and rockband with a friend.

I saw New Moon, Precious and Paranormal Activity. All of them were good. In fact, New Moon made me say something I’ve never said ever. I said, “O-M-G! The movie was way better than the book”. Though I should point out that I absolutely hated the book. Precious was really good and very moving. It was way more moving and sad than I thought it would be. Paranormal Activity was enjoyable but not scary. It’s the first movie that I felt effectively used the shaky cam effect.

It's always something with this site...

I can never get a break with it comes to this site and I don’t have enough time to tend to all the little problems that occur that are related to this site. It’s quite frustrating.

I’m living a double life and its catching up with me. I’m still two separate people and I don’t know how to fix that.

My current annoyance, relating to this site, is with the Kelly Walsh High School website. This one I can’t begin to understand because they’re using my horizontal accordion script from like 4 years ago, which is fine, but instead of DOWNLOADING THE FREE TO USE COPY, the creator of their site opts to just copy the code from my copyrighted page. Why is this annoying? Because in addition to leaving me as the “author” or said website along with my name and various keywords associated with my site, they have also left my google analytics script in there. So I can’t trust any of my stats. Perfect. Wonderful. That’s just great.

I sent an email to their “webmaster” on June 16th, 2009 and I waited over a month for a reply or for them to at least remove the lines of code that I had requested they take out but of course, no response and no removal of my name/code.

I sent another email, this time to the principal and cc’ed various assistant principals so hopeful someone will be able to help me with what I think is fair and shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Once again, I may have to make a claim or at least begin the process. I do detest paper work.

I’m really tired of the stress and various annoyances nyokiglitter brings me. My other world is so much easier. Its instances like this one, and the previous wordpress situation, that make me think that I should remove all tutorials and script/html snippets from my site. It had been my hope to return to this site and add more tutorials and things to help people but why? Why should I help anyone?

I think its time I changed my content.

Movie Review Quickie: Salvation & Origins

Terminator Salvation

OMG! WTF!?

Salvation was chuck full of action, explosions and pretty effects and sadly not much else. I really can't say much else about it. It was pretty much just some stuff that happened and then they rolled the credits. Save the your money and wait till they start showing it on TV.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

First, let me say I am sick and tired of comic books becoming movies. When I first saw the trailer for this, I had no intention of watching it. My mind was made up. I'd seen the first 3 X-Men movies and to me they were just ok. The same stuff happens. Magneto does something to piss them off, they fight, they win and it starts all over again. Yawn.

What made me change my mind about this one was when I saw the other trailer with Ryan Reynolds. I've got a short list of actors that will get me to go to the movies regardless of what they're in and Ryan Reynolds recently made the list. (Sadly this means I'll have to go see The Proposal.)

Anyway, this was by far one of the best action movies I've seen this summer! I was shocked! I wasn't expecting that at all. It was better than The Dark Knight and dare I say equal to Iron Man. Hugh Jackman was great! The story was great and Ryan was a kick ass Deadpool!

I highly recommend seeing this and if you do, there is stuff after the credits.
